Martti Henry Isotalo, age 91 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on June 19, 2017.
Martti was born May 9, 1926 at the Port Arthur General Hospital, grew up in rural Thunder Bay and graduated from Hillcrest High School. He married Toini Tokola on May 9, 1948. Together they raised their family in their home on North Court Street. Martti enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping with the family. Employed with Thunder Bay Hydro for 34 years, he retired as Director of Operations. Retirement included gardening, enjoying family at the summer camp, and winter trips to the south.
Martti is survived by his daughter Brenda Repo, sons Robert (Cathy) and Howard (Peggy), eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother William and sister-in-law Violet.
Martti was predeceased by his parents, his son-in-law Wilbert Repo, brother Olavi, and his wife Toini.
As per Martti’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private inurnment will be held at Riverside Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Martti’s memory to TBRHSC.
