It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary Pellizzari (nee Basso), age 87 years, at St. Joseph's Hospice on Friday, December 11, 2015. Her family was by her side.

Mary was born in Fort William on September 17, 1928 to Joseph and Rose Basso. She married Lino Pellizzari on October 11, 1952 and they were married for 61 years. Mary worked at Sears, in the Catalogue Department, for over 25 years, until retirement in 1993. She was a member of the CWL. Throughout her life, Mary enjoyed various sports. She loved fishing and often enjoyed doing so at the camp on Lake Shebandowan. She was an avid hockey and baseball fan. In 1977, Mary was nominated for “sportswoman of the year” after bowling a perfect 5 pin game! Bingo and casino outings with her sister, Margie, were also greatly enjoyed.

Mary is survived by her son, Brian; daughters Diane (Dave) MacBride (Kelowna) and Lori (California) and her grandchildren Chelsey (Kelowna), Jason (Calgary) and Scott MacBride (Vancouver). She leaves behind her sister, Margie Sgambelluri, whose constant care and support in the past months was appreciated beyond words. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lino (2013); sisters Anna Woit and Norma Basso and brother Peter Basso.

Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at 11:00 am in St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church. A reception will follow. If friends so desire, donations to Animal Services Thunder Bay (Mary loved animals) or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.
