Matti Vaananen, aged 90 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Bethammi Nursing Home. Matti was born in Kuopio, Finland on June 2, 1926 and immigrated to Canada.
Matti was a Finnish War Veteran. Employed in the bush, Matti was a cutter, skidder and foreman.
He enjoyed fishing, his camp at Kashabowie and he was an avid bowler. Matti is survived by his son Eric in Thunder Bay, his brother Kaapo in Finland and his family as well as friends in Utah.
Predeceased by his wife Eila on December 13, 2016. Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
