Maureen died in her home at Pinewood Court surrounded by her family on February 17th, 2023. Maureen was a Catholic school teacher for nearly 40 years, primarily teaching grade 1 and setting uncountable children off on a good foot. She was a feminist before that was a thing and never took nothing from nobody.  She was an avid bowler for almost as long, and was able to take on all comers in horseshoes.

As a consummate hostess and a treasured wife, mother, and grandmother, she was never one to be still; in taking care of her home of more than 60 years, she gardened, planned gatherings with family and friends, and baked all sorts of treats for her kids, grandchildren, and fellow bowlers. Her goodie trays will be missed.

Maureen believed in propriety in all things (though with our family, she seldom achieved this) and always wanted things done the right way – but she never let this get in the way of her love of good times and good friends.

Maureen was predeceased by her husband, Arthur. She is survived by her children, Nick (Tracey), Mike, and Rebecca (Dave) along with her grandchildren Max, Mary, Michelle, Rachel, and Alec.

Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay in Maureen’s memory will be greatly appreciated.

A celebration of Maureen's life will take place at her daughter's home on Wednesday, February 22. Please drop in between 5 and 9 p.m. at 125 Balmoral St., and join us to share food, drink, and memories of Maureen.
