Melvina Hookstead

With great sadness we announce Melvina Hookstead passed away peacefully with family by her side at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the age of 55. Melvina loved driving around listening to music, making her weekly calls to family and friends. She liked reading magazines, completing crosswords, and collecting teddy bears. Melvina was kind, patient and loved unconditionally all the children who entered her life. Melvina is survived by brothers Vince and Phillip; Children Evangeline and Ryan Hookstead; Grandchildren Mason, Allison, Jaxson and My Binoo as well as numerous family members. Melvina is predeceased by her parents James McIvor and Elizabeth Paishk, sister Dinah and brother Nelson. 

Services will take place Monday, September 24, 2018 at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 South Syndicate Avenue, Thunder Bay with visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 PM and the funeral service from 2:00 - 3:00 PM. For family that cannot make it, we will be having a tribute and potluck for Melvina at the Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.
