Mr. Michael Rubletz, aged 86 years old, resident of Thunder Bay, Ontario (Kakabeka Falls), passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Pioneer Ridge Care Facility.

A devoted husband to Marlene Rubletz (nee: Ross), loving father to Bernice (Danny) Gunsinger, Kevin (Rosemarie) Rubletz and Jennifer (Rob) Barton, and dedicated Grandpa and Poppy to Cindy, Lynn, Gary, Tyler, Justine, Kayrn, Brenden, Hailey, Joshua and his 5 great-grandchildren; he will be deeply missed.

Mike is survived by brothers Jim and Steve (Eva), brother in law Ken (Gloria) Ross and sister in law Eleanor Bloesser (Defeo) (Ross), and countless treasured nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by brothers Pete, John, George, Nick, Bill, sisters Lillian, Bella, Nora, and Annie, and brothers in law Reg Defeo and Harold Bloesser.

Born on June 5, 1932 on a farm in Wroxton, Saskatchewan to Gregory and Ellena Rubletz, Mike went to Chauser country school with his best friend Alex Puritch (deceased).

Mike worked on the family farm until he moved Ontario as a young man and met Marlene Ross at her family’s (Elmer and Ann Ross) bush camp. Mike and Marlene married in Thunder Bay in 1959 and raised two daughters and one son in Kakabeka Falls, Ontario.

Working in the bush, cutting and skidding, Mike had the longest career as a tree feller at J.F. Thompson Timber Ltd. Mike was a quiet and kind man, dedicated to his family, and known for his mischievous sense of humor. Mike spent much of his time working in his many gardens, and was quick to share their bounty with his friends and neighbors.

Our family thanks the care staff at Pioneer Ridge for their compassion and support.

At Mike’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. If so desired, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Arrangements have been entrusted to EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma.
