Mike, aged 85 years, passed away July 2nd after a courageous battle with cancer.  Born in Ethelbert, Manitoba to Steve and Victoria Paziuk.  He went to school in Ethelbert, but left at an early age due to his father’s passing in 1940 to work the family farm.  He came to Port Arthur in 1948 and spent most of his time here.

He was a steam fitter and plumber by trade, being a member of U.A. Local 628 for 60 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at camp at Stewart Lake. He always grew a large garden both at home and at the lake which he shared with his neighbours and friends.  Wood working was his passion and hobby in the winter months.  Grand Portage Casino was also one of his pastimes.

He is survived by his two “girls”, wife Diane and daughter Michelle (Clayton Borkowski); son in law Rick Hagarty, one granddaughter Shannon Hagarty, granddaughter in law Joanne Hagarty, and three great grandchildren Taya, Brinneal, and Seamus Hagarty all of Rainy River.  One brother Victor of B.C.,sister Helen Kachur of thunder Bay.

Predeceased recently by his beloved daughter Donna (Rick Hagarty), one grandson Shae Hagarty, brothers Sam and John, sister Pearl (Larson).

As per Mike’s wishes no service or visitation will be held.  Cremation has taken place.  If desired donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
