<p> Michael William Petruk of Niagara Avenue, passed away suddenly at age 61 years with family at his side in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, January 12, 2014.</p> <p> The only son of Michael and Joan Petruk, he was born on June 18, 1952 in Thunder Bay (Port Arthur).&nbsp; He attended St. Pius Elementary School and Hammarskjold High School.&nbsp; Michael was a proud &ldquo;paper maker&rdquo; employed at Provincial Paper Mill for 34 years.&nbsp; His favourite Job posting was working on No. 5 &amp; 6 paper machine.&nbsp; As an active and concerned employee, he took on the roles of First Aider and Union Supporter during his employment.</p> <p> In his younger years, Michael enjoyed participating in various sports including;&nbsp; golf, softball, bowling and more.&nbsp; Throughout his life, through highs and lows, Michael was a loyal and devoted Maple Leafs fan and a Seattle Seahawks fan.&nbsp; He also loved to hunt and fish, although he seldom ate the fish he caught.&nbsp; After the closure of the mill and what Michael liked to call his &ldquo;forcible retirement&rdquo;, his main interests were spending time with family, friends, neighbours, the family pets and gardening.&nbsp; His greatest pleasure in life was being &ldquo;Papa&rdquo; to 3 precious grandchildren.</p> <p> Michael will be truly and sadly missed by his wife, Beatrice, his son, Kyle, his daughter Jessica (Michael Berardi), his grandchildren;&nbsp; Erika Petruk, Isabella Berardi and Anthony Berardi, his sister Catherine (Robert) Isotalo, niece Jennifer Andersen, nephew Kenneth Isotalo, mother-in-law Madeleine Valliere and numerous other relatives and friends.&nbsp; He was predeceased by his loving parents and several close relatives.</p> <p> As per Michael&rsquo;s wishes cremation has taken place and Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Chapel, 21 North Court Street with Rev. Lloyd Ivany presiding. All services will be complete in the chapel with a private inurnment at a later date.&nbsp; A reception will follow the service in the Sargent Family Reception Centre.&nbsp;</p> <p> In lieu of flowers memorials to the Ontario Heart &amp; Stroke Foundation or to the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Online condolences may be made at <a href="http://www.sargentandson.com" target="_blank">www.sargentandson.com</a>.</p> <p> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<span style="font-size: 12px;">&ldquo;We never lose the ones we love</span></p> <p> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; For even though they&rsquo;ve gone.</p> <p> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Within the hearts of those who care,</p> <p> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Their memory lingers on&rdquo;.</p>
