With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Michel (Mike) Joseph Jean Larochelle on June 15, 2025, at the age of 53.
Mike was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario, and raised in Opasatika, Schreiber, and Terrace Bay. He later made his home in Thunder Bay and Ear Falls, where he built a life filled with hard work, strong friendships, and deep love for his family. Over the years, Mike worked in autobody shops, the mining industry, and most recently as a control room operator at a sawmill.
Mike was known for his sharp wit and trademark sense of humour. He loved giving quirky nicknames to those he cared about, always delivering them with his signature, infectious laughter. A true jack of all trades, Mike put his heart and soul into everything he did. Whether he was working on projects in his garage, casting a line while fishing, or listening to his favourite music, he brought passion, precision, and authenticity to every part of his life.
He will be forever missed by his daughter Danielle Larochelle (Aimee Berlinquette), his parents Aline Isabelle and Paul Larochelle (Nicole Otis), his brother Steve Larochelle (Amanda Leach), his nephews Jesse and Reese Larochelle, and his former wife Lisa Frigeri. Mike also leaves behind many friends and chosen family who knew and loved him for his unapologetic spirit, his loyalty, and his willingness to help anyone who needed a hand.
Mike was outspoken, fiercely genuine, and wore his heart on his sleeve. He was a great friend and a steadfast supporter to those lucky enough to know him.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral service.
His memory will live on in the hearts
of those who knew and loved him.
