Mr. Milan Zigante, age 88 years, passed away in St. Joseph’s Care Group on Thursday, January 6, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.
Milan was born in Motovun, Istria, Croatia on November 6, 1933, the son of Anton and Antonia Zigante. He came to Canada when he was 20 years old, settling in Fort William. Milan worked in Forestry before working for United Grain Growers, from where he retired. He loved to cook, especially his famous pasta, for family, friends and coworkers. Milan enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time at the casino and his daily coffee with friends at McDonalds. His greatest joy was found in time spent with his family.
Milan is survived by his children Leonard (C.J.) Zigante and Susan Zigante, granddaughter Cheryl (Dale Garriock) Woodbeck, great grandchildren Brady and Emery, brother Petar and sister Paulina, as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret as well as by numerous siblings in Croatia.
