With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Sister and friend Monica Maryclare Irving.

Monica was born in Port Arthur on March 28, 1932. She was one of 5 children to Mary and James Fedell.  Monica attended St. Andrew’s elementary school, King’s Business College and started working  at Great West Timber. 

In 1954 Monica married Alexander “Moe” Irving. Monica continued her working career at Dr. AV Juvshik for over 20 years.  Monica was a founding member of Andrew’s Hockey Association, volunteered at the Inter City Bingo Palace, Community Auditorium, Thunder Bay Minor Hockey Association, Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame and a member of the Catholic Women’s League of St. Agnes for 47 years. 

Monica’s love of life led her to the hockey rinks where she could be seen watching her grandsons and great nephews or volunteering alongside her husband Moe. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Alexis (Larry), Deborah (Meryle), grandsons Ryan (Melinda), Shaun (Jennifer) and great grandchildren Lathan, Tayliah, Landon and Myla.  Monica is survived by her loving sister Georgina Pytyck, several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Predeceased by her parents Mary and James Fedell, husband Alex  “Moe” Irving, brothers Guy and Jack Fedell, sister Corinne Andrews, brother-in-laws Walter Andrews and Michael Pytyck and sister-in-law Gladys Fedell.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 10:30am in the St. Agnes’ Church, with Rev. James Panikulam officiating. A private family interment will be held later. If friends desire, memorials to the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame or the Thunder Bay Chapter of the Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Monica Irving will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
