After a courageous battle with cancer, we say goodbye to a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Monika Goldring, age 68 years, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospice on Sunday, February 8, 2015, with her family by her side.

Monika was born in Berlin Germany on January 16, 1947. She came to Thunder Bay with her family at the age of 9 and started her first job as a hairdresser when she was 19. Monika was the co-owner of Bon Ton Hairstyling until her retirement in 2007. She loved her job and co-workers, Beverly and Diane.

Mom enjoyed spoiling her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with her family. She also loved feeding the birds in her yard and of course, having a glass of wine or two. Monika will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and strength and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Left to mourn are Monika's children, Shawn (Christina), Liz and Ryan (Lori); grandchildren Kallie and Brody; her mother Kate; sisters Chris (John), Shirley (Dave), Renate (Rick) and Sylvia (Alfredo) and brothers Rick (Debbie) and Wolfe. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Monika was predeceased by her ever-loving husband, John; father Richard and sister, Gloria.

The family would like to send a special thank you to doctors and staff of the TBRHSC – Oncology Department as well as St. Joseph's Hospice and nurse Paula.

A Celebration of Monika's Life will take place on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 12:00 until 2:00PM at the West Thunder Community Centre. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Monika to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre – Cancer Care or St. Joseph's Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.

“For my darling, I Love You, and I always will”
