It is with sadden hearts that we announce the passing of Monique Galarneau who passed away peacefully in her home on the shore of Lake Superior, Monday November 19, 2018.

Monique was born on July 19, 1947 in Chazel, Québec, daughter of Aimé Cyr and Rita Noël. The family moved to La Sarre, Québec, where she met and married her love Fernand Galarneau. After they got married, they moved to Thunder Bay where they started their family and had two sons, Sylvain and Gaëtan. ¬¬

Monique was a very loving, family-oriented wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She would do anything and everything for whomever she crossed paths with. Her passions were bowling, bingo, and devoted most of her time volunteering at the Branch #5 Legion with the Ladies Auxiliary. She was an amazing home cooker, if there were any left overs, they were always fought over. Each of these brought her great joy, but above all, her family came first.

Monique was always your number #1 supporter of anything you chose to do with your life. She never missed a motocross race, bowling game, or a hockey game, she was always there.

When you needed someone to talk to, she was the one person you could always turn to. She was a true believer in her religion.

She will be sadly missed by her sons, Sylvain (Leanne) and Gaëtan (Stephanie), grandchildren Jessica and Joshua. As well as her brother and sisters, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Fernand along with numerous other family members.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the Port Arthur Legion Branch 5, 229 Van Norman Street. Interment will be taking place in Québec at a later date.

Donations may kindly be made in Monique’s honour to the Port Arthur Branch #5 Ladies Auxiliary or a charity of your choice.
