James Ronald Truhn

It is with great sorrow and sadness, the family announce the passing of James Ronald Truhn on Monday, November 29th, 2021 at the age of 79 years. He passed away peacefully.

Born November 9th, 1942 in Thunder Bay and was a lifetime resident. He attended Arthur Street School and Selkirk High School.

He had many jobs. One of his favourites was being an Orderly at McKellar Hospital, where he did Inhalation Therapy and other things. He retired from Provincial Papers Cascades Fine Paper in 1997, after 32 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Westfort Prosvita Society on West Gore Street.

He is survived by his partner Janet, son Jamie (Tina), Thunder Bay, daughter Jody (Wesley), Sudbury, daughter-in-law Kristal (Jason) and granddaughter Chelsea (Tyler); brother Norman, sister Iva and nephews Ronald, Dale and Danny Dennis. He was predeceased by his mother Annie Truhn, father Roland Truhn and brother-in-law Walter Dennis.

Jim’s love of fishing and camping with his buddies was the highlight of his summers. His enthusiasm for fishing could be seen the most when he would buy fishing rods for many young kids that could not afford one and then teach them how to fish. This would bring him great joy. He spent many happy hours fishing in his boat.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place in the summer.

If friends and family desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of their choice. This would be greatly appreciated by the family.
