Mrs. Myrna Margaret Steinberg, age 76 years passed away at home on Thursday, March 30, 2017.

Myrna was born on June 9, 1940 in Port Arthur, to John and Ida Kankkunen. She grew up in MacIntyre. Myrna married Enno Steinberg on August 15, 1959 in Trinity United Church. Together they raised two children, Rudi and Maria.

Myrna attended Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, then attended Teachers College in Thunder Bay. She taught for both the Public and Catholic School Boards. She retired from teaching to raise her family.

She loved her horses and enjoyed horseback riding on the trails. One of her favourite places was going to the family camp no matter what time of year. Canoeing and swimming in the summer and cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing in the winter were some of the activities she enjoyed. Gardening was not just for food but also for the plants healing properties. Volunteer work was a very big part of her life and one of her favourite places was the school room at the Founders Museum.

Myrna is survived by her husband Enno; children Rudi and Maria (Chris), grandchildren Amanda, Jakob, Kristy, Jessica. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Elmer and Ron.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Myrna Steinberg will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 1:30 pm in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, with Rev. Randy Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, in the Everest Chapel.
