May 17, 1923 – April 9, 2016

Mrs. Myrtle Hayward (nee Hymers), age 92 years, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 9, 2016.

Myrtle was born in Hymers, Ontario on May 17, 1923, daughter of the late Wesley and Marie Hymers. During the War, Myrtle worked at CanCar. She also worked at the Slate River Potato Farm and cleaned the South Gillies Hall. Myrtle married James Hayward on September 19, 1942 and they were married for 42 years, when he predeceased her in February, 1984. Myrtle loved spending time with family and was proud of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and travelling as well as crocheting her famous doylies. And as everyone knew, pink was her favourite colour.

Myrtle is survived by her children, Marlene (Terry) Winters, Sharon (Robert) Randle, Wesley (Tammy) and Reg (Lorraine) and daughter-in-law Sharon Hayward; grandchildren Shane, Sheri-Ann (Ben) Mykulak, Sheila Jackson (Claudio Reda), Bob Randle, Lisa Randle, Amanda (Holt) Greenwald and Tyler Hayward as well as 12 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by special nieces, Pat McFarlane (Kevin Kotala) and Karen Slomke as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Along with her husband, Myrtle was predeceased by her sons Jerry and Larry and a grandson Ryan Winters; her parents and siblings Fern Cook, Opal Gudmundson, Florence Ojala and Bert Hymers.

Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Myrtle Hayward will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00AM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will follow in Hymers Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time.
