Nickolas Olinyk, age 91 of Thunder Bay, died peacefully at home with family by his side on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.  Nick was born and raised in Stryi, Ukraine. He came to Canada at the age of 25 to start a new life, meeting his wife shortly after that. He retired from the CNR after many years of service as a truck driver and labourer. He was very active in the Ukraine society doing maintenance work for the Ukraine camp and Hall.  He enjoyed gardening, blueberry picking, fishing, and hunting. He was always wanting to lend a helping hand to his family and friends.

Nick was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Clara of 65 years, his children Mike (Heather) and Mark (Paula), grandchildren Matthew and Arthur Olinyk. Also survived by siblings all in the Ukraine – Brothers Bohdan, Wolodymyr and sisters Olga and Halia. He will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral Services for Nickolas will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Transfiguration celebrated by Rev. Stepan Didur. Interment will follow in the Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. Panachyda will be offered Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 4:00 pm by Rev. Vladimir Chvets in the Blake Funeral Chapel.
