Mrs. Norina Maria Gurtajus age 86 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in St. Joseph's Hospital, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.
Born and raised in Pordenone, Italy, Norina came to Canada in 1958.
She met and married Victor Gurtajus, who predeceased her on July 26, 1975. Norina worked as a seamstress for Chapples Department Store for 22 years, and following their closure for 9 years at Otto & Bayne. Norina is survived by niece, Clara (Santo) DelBen and family, and numerouse nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada.
She is predeceased by parents Guerino and Maria Perlin, husband Victor, brother Jimmy (Ruth) and sisters Ada and Clelia.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 9:00am at St. Agnes' Church celebrated by Rev. Jerin Louis. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. If friends desire, memorials to the TBRHSF Northern Cancer Research Fund would be appreciated.
Thank you to Dr. Stamler, Norina’s family Doctor, Dr. Vergidis and Dr. Davis, and the staff of 2B at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and 4N Hospice at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their care and compassion provided to Norina.
Norina Gurtajus will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
