Onni Uolevi Granholm

Mr. Onni Uolevi Granholm slept peacefully into eternal rest at Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre on January 18, 2018 at the age of 88 years, two weeks short of his 89th year. He was born February 1, 1929 in Pomarkku, Finland to Martta and Niilo Granholm.

Onni immigrated in 1951 to Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay). He was educated in vast areas of agriculture management, but found work in the forestry sector. He was lastly employed as a security guard for many years in various locations.

He was predeceased by his mother Martta, father Niilo Granholm and step-mother Tyyne Granholm; sister Kerttu Landvik; brothers Altti and Osmo; grandparents; aunts and uncles; and good friend Eini Tuomi.

Onni will be sadly missed by sisters, brothers and their families, nieces, nephews and cousins in Finland. In Canada, he will be missed by his sister Inkeri Knox; nephews Harry Knox (Teresa) and Torsti Landvik; niece Arja Landvik and several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00am in Hilldale Lutheran Church, 321 Hilldale Road, with Rev. Jari Lahtinen officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Should friends so desire, donations may be made to Hilldale Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.
