Mr. Orlando Dominic Zen, age 83 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away in Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, on Monday, August 16, 2021, surrounded by family.
Orlando was born in Auoscan Belluno, Italy on September 4, 1937. He moved to Canada and resided in Thunder Bay for over 55 years, where he would work as an oiler for Bowater. On June 13th, 1964, Orlando married the love of his life, Maria Macchi, and they would raise two children, Angela and David. Orlando loved his garden and was a dedicated member of the DaVinci Centre and the Alpini Choir.
Orlando is survived by his daughter Angela Moses (Rick), grandchildren Kimberly (Steve) Thompson, Brittany (Eden) Moses, and Ryan, and greatgrandchildren Myah, Vincent and Avah from Marathon, son David Zen (Adeline), grandchildren Stephanie (Max) Dinsmore, Ashley, Deanna (Daniel) Walters and Katelyn, and greatgrandchildren Aiden and Colton from North Bay, brother Rinaldo Zen of Atikokan, his companion Gabriella Battistel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Orlando was predeceased by his wife, Maria, and parents Stanislao and Pia Zen.
As per Orlando’s wishes a private family interment took place at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
