It is with sadness that the family of Otto Kuch announce the passing of their beloved husband, father and Opa at the age of 91.
Born in the Black Forest of Southern Germany Otto was the third of five children born to Marie and Christian Kuch. He apprenticed in his father’s furniture making business and completed his training as a Master Furniture Maker following his service in the war. Emigrating from Germany to Fort William in 1957 he was joined shortly thereafter by Anna and their young family. His significant war injuries did not prevent him from achieving his goals. Through an incredible work ethic and perfectionism he succeeded as a millwright in his new land. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity of spirit - his love of the outdoors and fishing.
His deep and abiding faith in God and daily reading of the bible was a source of comfort to him throughout his long life.
Otto is survived by his wife Anna, children, Walter (Janice), Hans (Mary Jo) and Willie, his grandchildren Nathan, Eric (Annie), Marianne (Ryan Heppler), John, Layne, Sydney and Darian as well as great grandchildren Cale, Grayson and Daphne. Also surviving are his brother Theo and sister Rose (Kagerhuber) as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews residing in Germany.
The family would like to share their appreciation and express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Pinewood Court for their care, humour and dedication to Otto during his time there. Thanks go out to Doctors Ruby and Steve Klassen for their kindness and support.
Donations in lieu of flowers to your charity of choice would be appreciated.
A memorial service will be held for Otto at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2820 Donald Street East, on Saturday January 27th at 11:00 AM.
