December 5, 2007-August 11, 2025

It is with great sadness that Laurie and Chris Millington announce the untimely passing of their dear son Owen. He was taken from us much too soon in a tragic collision while riding his motorcycle to work. Though this is tragic and overwhelming, we would like to focus on the great things about Owen, there were so many. Owen was a talented student, even more so when he studied. He was very proud to graduate as an Ontario Scholar, a SHSM Graduate, from St. Patrick High School this past June.

Owen made friends easily, his best friend Vince always around. Both spending much time in navigating high school together. Owen’s crew were always spending time together, we loved hearing about what they were doing, so many adventures.  Owen was known to be, and rightly so, a caring and compassionate friend who would always make sure his friends got home safely from a party, sit with them when they needed to talk, and offer people whatever he could help with. Owen knew that if he ever needed a ride home, he could always call us, instead he would be there to watch out for his friend group and ensure they were safe. Always ready to volunteer and help others, Owen helped with the rural cupboard food bank, was an indispensable part of the St. Pat’s Drama team (in his favourite role of Mr. Fixit).

It is rare, to find someone with something negative to say about the boy. His parents and brothers all have heard how great a young man he was. He wasn’t a bragger, just a head down and get it done young man. Anyone who lived out this way has seen Owen at the Kakabeka Esso always eager to help and have many a conversation with the regulars He loved building sheds with The Shed Guy and was looking forward to securing full time work. He loved working with his hands, most recently helping to remove a window and build a wall at the Masonic Lodge on Fredrica. Sadly, his life to short did not meet his dream of becoming an electrician, but his family is sure that God has plans for him doing renovations upstairs in heaven.

Owen is predeceased by his Uncle Scott Millington, Grandparents Bruno & Frances Starczewski, Grandmother Ervina Millington. He is survived by parents Laurie and Chris, brothers Teddy, Austin (Nikki), Zachary (Esen), his nieces Piper and Avery, and his nephew Sheamus, Grandparents Jim and Diane Millington, Krystyna and Mike Patroluk, his Uncles Dayton (Lauren), Graeme (Amy), his Aunts Karen Patroluk (Michael), Sarah  Lawrence (Mike), Bria (Michael), Jiang Millington, and so many cousins. The distances keep us apart, but he loved them all and loved helping with all when we got together.

We will carry on, we won’t like it, but we know he would want you to hug each other, choose love not hate, choose to hope not to despair, the future is bright -- seek your goals, take chances, strive to be the person that God would expect you to be in his teachings. We will miss him dearly, an Angel called to Gods side, but we have faith that he rests with God.

The family would like to thank everyone who tried to save Owen’s life. To the by-standers, Paramedics, Thunder Bay Fire, Thunder Bay OPP, Nurses, Doctors, and hospital staff, please take care of yourselves and each other.

Services will be held for Owen at the Everest Funeral Chapple in Westfort on Gore Street. Funeral at 10am Friday August 22nd, 2025 with reception and visiting to follow. Close Friends and family will procession after the reception for the internment at his final resting place.
