Mr. Pasquale Casoria, age 80 years, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

Pasquale was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy on September 20, 1936, the son of Fabrizio and Maria Casoria. He married the love of his life Carmelina Gallo on June 28, 1959 in Torino, Italy and they came to Canada in 1965.

Pasquale began working as a barber in Italy at the age of 12 and when he first arrived in Canada he and Carmelina opened a salon in Marathon where they worked for 12 years before moving to Thunder Bay. He continued his career as a barber working at Northwood Barber Shop, Scientific Hair Care and Pauly’s Barber Shop prior to his retirement 3 months ago.

He had a passion for gardening and enjoyed hunting, fishing and making wine. Pasquale was happiest during time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved being around family and friends enjoying a home cooked meal. He was a member of the St. Anthony’s Seniors Club, where he enjoyed being an active member since his retirement, a member of the Principe Di Piemonte Societa Italiana and the Italian Society of Port Arthur.

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Camelina, children Tiziana “Trish” (Dino) DeVuono and Fabrizio “Fab” Casoria, grandchildren Daniela (Ryan) Ross, Nathan and Stephanie DeVuono, Cassandra, Matthew and Maxwell Casoria, great grandchildren Scotlynn and Sienna Ross, sisters Caterina and Angela, brothers Domenico (Pina), Conzolato (Palmina), Armando and Giuseppe as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street at 1 p.m. to St. Anthony’s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 1:30 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini.

The entombment service will follow at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum. Visitation for friends will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Chapel where the Vigil Service will begin at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or St. Anthony’s Church would be appreciated.
