With profound sadness we announce Patricia’s peaceful passing with family by her side, on August 3, 2021 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences. After struggling for several months, Patricia finally found her way home.

She was the eldest child of Archie & Betty James, sister to Billy, Rosemary & Shirley. Her childhood was spent growing up in the North Brodie Street neighbourhood. She attended St. Stanislaus & St. Patrick schools. She was a very devout Catholic and was a proud 75-year member of the Catholic Women’s League.

In 1947 Patricia met the love of her life Nicholas and they married in September. They resided on East Mary Street where they raised their eight children. Summers were spent at their camp on Sandy Beach, Chippewa Park. In 1968 they moved into their dream home on Agate Bay.

In 1975 Nicholas was promoted to District Manager with Bata Shoe Stores (Ottawa & Northern Ontario Regions). Pat and Nick along with the four youngest girls relocated to Ottawa. There they created many lifelong friendships. In 1984 they returned to retire at their newly renovated home at Sandy Beach.

Patricia was most proud of her eight children. She led by example. She instilled in her children to be kind and loving to one another. She was a dedicated mother and wife, master chef, entertainer & decorator. She did it with style, elegance and grace. She lit up a room with just her presence, beautiful smile and cheerful mood. She was an inspiration to all and we will forever hold her in our hearts.

Patricia was predeceased by Nicholas (1986) and daughter Charlene (2008). Also predeceased by her parents and sisters Rosemary Kelly & Shirley West.

She is survived by her children Jim (Betty), Bob (Darlene), Betty (Ken), Jolene (Paul), Paula (Gerry), Rosemary (Mike) and Cathy (Mike); her brother William James (Billy); her grandchildren JJ (Liisa), Jeff (Lyndsay), Joey (Bryony), Jon (Caitlin), Ryan (Megan), Kimberly (Shawn), Matthew, Caitlin, Adam, Nicholas & Luca and great grandchildren, Ella, Tessa, Kate, Laine, Leece, Violet, Willa, Audrey, Milli, Ava, Ewan, Liam, Arrabella, Caroline, Emma & Myah as well as many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. A private family interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff on 6 North Hogarth Riverview Manor for the wonderful, kind, compassionate care our mother received while being one of the first residents of this Long Term Care home.
