Patricia Pervais

Patricia Anne Pervais, age 77 years, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with family by her side. An amazing mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Words are not enough to share how treasured she was to her family and so many.

Patricia was born on October 19, 1939 in Cutler, Ontario on the Serpent River First Nation. She was the eldest of twelve children of the late William and Virginia McLeod (Ahwanaquot). She attended the Garnier Residential School in Spanish, Ontario and subsequently lived in many places throughout her life including British Columbia, Upstate New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Toronto and Fort William First Nation where she was a member. She devoted her life to her children, loved travelling, music, arts, fashion, Jeopardy, bingo, skiing, ice skating, family cruises, cooking, and entertaining. Patricia loved the Gay Head Cliffs on Martha’s Vineyard, the Rodin Museum Gardens in Paris, and the warm sunshine of Arizona. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family. She will be remembered for her generous spirit, gracious nature, sense of adventure, and finding happiness in every moment.

She is survived by six children: Lydia Kuchefski (Ken), Desmond Pervais, Craig Pervais (Paula), Colette van Breems (Martin), Claudette Lebowitz (Arthur) and Brian Pervais and seven grandchildren.

To those I have left behind, some things I'd like to say,
but first of all to let you know that I've arrived o.k.

I'm writing this from Heaven, where I dwell with God above,
where there's no more tears or sadness, there's just eternal love.

The day I had to leave you, when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me, and said “I welcome you”.

Please do not be unhappy, just because I'm out of sight,
remember that I'm with you, every morning, noon and night.

And when you feel that gentle breeze, or the wind upon your face,
that's me giving you a great big hug, or just a soft embrace.

And when it's time for you to go, from that body to be free,
remember you're not going, you are coming here to me.

P.S. God sends his love.
