It is with the deepest sadness, and broken hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of Pat, age 76, after a lifetime battle with Myotonic Dystrophy Type 2. She will be so terribly missed.

Pat was the youngest of 6 children, and the only girl, born to Olga & William Simenac. She was predeceased by brothers Allan, Larry, Jerry, Melvin and Patrick (in infancy), as well as both her parents, and her in-laws, Ivy & Kenneth Stewardson, brother-in-law Dennis, sister-in-law Marilyn, sister-in-law Tammy, and brother-in-law Donald.

Pat was one of the hardest workers we have ever seen, and she loved her work. She worked in the service industry throughout her working career. Mainly Papa Joe’s Pizza, Robin’s Donuts, Zellers Restaurant and McKellar Confectionery. She had many regular customers throughout the years that she always spoke about fondly. She always remembered everyone’s regular order. Due to health concerns, Pat had to retire and enjoy her life at home. It was wonderful to have her here every day. Coffee was always on, and she was always up for a chat. She became the “laundry lady.” Her grandchildren grew up believing we had a “magic” washer and dryer. You put laundry in and come back later and it’s all folded in the basket; this was Pat’s loving way of taking care of everyone. Her grandchildren were truly blessed to have their grandparents right down the stairs for their entire lives.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Terry; sons Ken (Carolyn) and Brian (Melanie); her precious grandchildren Ashley (Justin), Taylor (Eric) & Matthew; great grandchildren Madison & Brodie Pelto; Pat was also honorary grandma (Grandma Pat) to so many including: Jen, Nick, Kaye, and Amelia.

In lieu of flowers, donations to www.myotonic.org to help fund research into this disease that has, and continues to affect, Pat’s entire family, or Muscular Dystrophy Canada, at muscle.ca, would be appreciated.

Pat leaves behind a legacy that will live forever. We were all incredibly blessed to have been loved by her and will hold that in our hearts forever.
