On May 26th 2022, Patrick Hardy of Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinabek, passed away peacefully at the age of 80, surrounded by loved ones in the Nipigon Memorial Hospital.

Patrick was a hard-working man who proudly ran a drilling company, ‘Hardy Well Drilling’ and spent many years commercial fishing on Lake Nipigon. He loved the outdoors, passing on all his knowledge to his son and grandsons while hunting and fishing. Family was always Patrick’s top priority. He was a very family-oriented man who helped raise many children throughout the years. Patrick spent every moment he could with the ‘little ones’ in his life. He will be deeply missed as he touched the hearts of many.

Patrick is survived by his son, Creighton Hardy (Tricia Mishquart); grandchildren, Corey Fowler (Kaylan Laporte), Mercedes Hardy, Caleb Hardy (Ally Willan), Carson Hardy, Ceighton Hardy, Caylen Hardy; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kolten, Aliya, Levi, Tate, Ryder, Rylan, River, and Jayce; siblings, Tim Hardy (Christine), Diane Hardy, John Hardy, and Brenda Hardy; special nieces, Karen Hardy (Paul Ertel) and Nicole Baxter; closest friend, Frank Goodman (Dorothy); mother of his children, Kathleen Hardy, and numerous nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Kathleen (nee Abisiikang) and John Hardy Sr; son, Patrick Joseph (Sudley) Hardy; siblings, Alan (Jiggs) Hardy, Arthur (Murphy) Hardy, James Hardy Sr, Edna Traverse, Gregory Hardy, Doreen Hardy, Vera Kedroski, Jessie Hardy, and Marguerite Hardy.

The Hardy family would like to thank Dr. Del Paggio, Dr. Scott, Jonah Dupius, the nurses and medical staff at the Nipigon Memorial Hospital for the help and support through this tough battle with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022 with family and friends gathering in Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Nipigon, Ontario for the Funeral Mass at 1:00pm celebrated by Fr. Henryk Augustinowicz. Interment will follow in Cliffside Cemetery, Nipigon where he will be laid to rest beside his son. Visitation for close family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
