Patrick Fenlon
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Patrick Karl Fenlon announce his peaceful passing at the TBRHSC on November 26, 2021.

Dad was born on October 5, 1930 in Middlesex, England. He studied laboratory science and technology at Queen Charolotte’s Hospital and Chelsea Polytechnic (London University) and attended Post Graduate Medical School in London where he received a Fellowship of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology – qualifying him to work abroad.

He immigrated to Canada in 1959, accepting the position of chief lab technologist at Port Arthur General Hospital where he worked until his retirement in 1996, and it was there where he met the love of his life, Nola with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Dad embraced all things Canadian. He enjoyed fishing, camping, canoeing and playing hockey. He even cheered for the Montreal Canadians – one of the original six NHL teams at the time. He became an avid gardener, spending endless time tending to his flowers and vegetables.

A track and field enthusiast, dad volunteered for years as an official judge and timer at local road races, as well as high school track and field and cross -country events.

He held the rank of major with the Lakehead Service Battalion, 18 Medical Company. He and mom loved dancing the night away at the annual Military Ball at the Thunder Bay Armoury.

Dad enjoyed celebrating his Irish heritage by hosting the annual neighbourhood St. Patrick’s Day party.

In his retirement, he took up curling and looked forward to his weekly game with the “Go Slow” league at the Port Arthur Curling Club.

Dad was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a caring, compassionate and humble man who was generous with praise and support, expecting nothing in return.

He is survived by his loving wife Nola, daughters Kathleen Delaney (Rod), Maureen Dillon (Andrew) and grandchildren Emily, Isabel, Michael and Amy. He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Rosa Fenlon and siblings John, Frank, Eileen and Jane.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Zavagnin, Dr. Lai, Dr. Osman and Dr. Stallwood for their kind, compassionate and professional care of dad.

A funeral service for Patrick Fenlon will be held at Lakeview Presbyterian Church on Thursday December 2, 2021 @ 11:00 a.m with Rev. Bert Vancook officiating.
