It is with deep sadness we share the news of the passing of our father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Patrick James Lynch, on December 25, 2018 after a short stay in the TBRHSC.

Patrick was born in Port Arthur on December 6, 1934 to William and Dorothy Lynch. In 1956, Pat married Taimi (Sauvela) and together they had 5 children: Terry, James (Karen), Ron (Donna), Kelly (Mireille), and Susan Paterson (Stan). Taimi predeceased Pat in January 1972. Eventually Gerry became part of the family with her 5 boys: John (Heather), Glen (Maureen), Larry (Sandi), Peter (Michelle) and Wayne (Marilyn). They successfully blended 10 children, at times not easily, but with patience, understanding, a lot of love and each other, they all grew up with love and affection with a strong bond. When Gerry passed away in 2014, Pat moved from Lappe into the city. His last few years were spent in Chartwell where he was able to rekindle some old friendships and form new ones. Pat was always a hardworking, trustworthy man – many of his business relationships turned into long lasting friendships, his sound advice was sought by many and he enjoyed nothing more than a family dinner with his kids and grandchildren, as well as anyone who stopped by. In addition to his children, Pat is survived by sister Donna, brothers Tom (Jean), Rick (Irene), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews nieces and cousins. Pat was predeceased by his parents, Taimi, Gerry, and brothers Gerald and Bill.

The family would like to thank Chartwell nurses and doctors in ICU and 2C, especially Andy, for the care Patrick received.

Funeral Service for Patrick will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Canon Ed Swayze. Visitation for family and friends will begin one hour prior to the service time. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Patrick’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
