Paul Johnson Willoughby III

Paul Johnson Willoughby III
It is with profound sadness that Paul’s family announce his sudden and unexpected passing. Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Paul and Tracey, his dear sisters, Jade, Kyra and Athena. Paul was a devoted father to his children, Paul (Mr. Paul), Aubrey and Paisley, and he could often be found playing with them and making them laugh and giggle.

Paul leaves behind a large and extended family, including his military family and his furniture moving family. The list would be endless but know that you all held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his Grandmothers Evelyn Lachinette and Mary Willoughby; Aunts and Uncles Bryant Shapwaykeesic, Dawn Willoughby (John), Frances Mononen (Ira), Leslie Willoughby (Lisa), Derek Wynn and Darryl Wynn.

Paul is predeceased by his sister Serena, Grandfathers Frank Wynn and Paul Willoughby, and his Great Grandparents, Paul and Genevieve Willoughby, and Alena Lachinette and Michael Wabason.

Paul was born and raised in Thunder Bay and attended St. Paul and Bishop Gallagher Elementary Schools and St. Ignatius Highschool. It was here that he developed many friendships, including his lifelong friendship with his best friend, Albert Prevost. Paul was also an active member of the Lake Superior Scottish Regiment Infantry Unit, holding the rank of Corporal. During his 11 years with the LSSR, Paul welcomed many, if not all, of his comrades into his circle of friends. He was both proud and honored to have been a part of the LSSR Infantry Unit. The family wishes to thank Craig Loverin, LSSR for his support during this difficult time.

Paul’s humor and wit will be missed by many, and although he is no longer with us in body, we are comforted by the knowledge that he will forever be with us in spirit.

Paul began his journey to the Spirit World on Monday, November 13th and family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation at the Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, on Tuesday, November 20th from 11am-1pm. Paul will receive a traditional burial service at Whitesand First Nation on Wednesday, November 21st and will be laid to rest at Wagaming Cemetery.
