Mr. Paul Olavi Lehikoinen, age 84 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Paul was born in Hornepayne, Ontario on June 9, 1932 and grew up in Geraldton (Jonesville) Ontario. He later moved to Port Arthur in 1948 where he attended Port Arthur Tech.

Paul worked as a surveyor and as a draftsman. Some of his surveying jobs included the subway in Toronto, Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg and numerous jobs throughout northwestern Ontario. Later, he built log cabins at Kingfisher.

In retirement, Paul resided in Vancouver returning to Thunder Bay to be close to family. He was very active outdoors as an avid canoeist, photographer and, observer of nature. In later years he enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was always ready to go for coffee with family and friends.

Paul is survived by sister Lily Saarimaki, nephews Tom (Karen) Saarimaki, and Randy (Helena) Saarimaki, great niece Liisa Saarimaki and great nephew Erik Saarimaki.

Predeceased by his father John, mother Aino, brother Arvo and brother-in-law Benny Saarimaki.
