Pearl Dicks
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Pearl Agatha Gladys Dicks (nee Fournier) on March 15, 2021.

Pearl was born on June 6, 1923 in Fort William, On to Delia and William Fournier. As the youngest of 8 children, Pearl enjoyed many adventures with her siblings and she carried her adventurous spirit throughout her life.

In 1943 she married Kenneth Milton Dicks at St. Ignatius Church in Winnipeg. Shortly afterward, Ken shipped off to war. After his return they raised 7 children of their own.

Family was a huge part of Pearl's life but she also had many passions including baseball, bowling league, golfing, preserving fruits and vegetables and even making homemade root beer in the basement. She was an avid PTA member and enjoyed volunteering in pretty much everything.

In 1987 Pearl and Ken made the move to Penticton, B.C. for the warmer climate (and longer golf season!) It was there her famous "hole in one" was achieved. While there they also enjoyed many vacations south of the border with friends. She even went parasailing at age 70!

After enjoying several years in B.C. Pearl and Ken returned again to their roots in Thunder Bay. She still remained active with bowling and golfing of course, insisting on walking the 18 holes at Municipal Golf Course even at 85 years old!

Pearl was a life long member of St. Agnes Church. Her faith was extremely important to her and carried her through many difficult times. She fully participated in parish life and lived her faith with being a 70 yr + member of the CWL, helping organizing fundraisers like Gold Rush Days, campaigning against abortion and volunteering to bring communion to those who couldn't attend mass. She was a member of the Franciscan Order.

Pearl is lovingly remembered by her family: Larry (Joan), Richard, Shannon, Rosalie (Nick) Deligioridis, Marsha (Norm) Tetreault and Natalie (Denis) Malette. Grandchildren include: Ron Dicks, James Dicks, Michele Holub, Gerard Dicks, Alexa Deligioridis, Sean Dicks, Kerry Dicks, Natasha Tobin, Josee Malette, Liane Malette and Denise Malette and 9 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by husband Ken on August 17, 2013 and her daughter Carol Fournier Dicks September 18, 2018 as well as her siblings George Fournier, Doris (Bill) Delong, Walter (Marge) Fournier, Alfred (Ethel) Fournier, Laura (Lorne) Lillie, Ruby (Roland) Carlson and Percy Fournier. Additional deceased members: Hazel (Ron)Wallace, Vern (Ruth) Dicks, Doris (Edward) Hagberg and Alda (Doug) Asquith.

We would like to thank Pearl's extended family at Hogarth Riverview Manor. She entered HRM as a resident but has left as a beloved friend.
Because of Covid a private funeral will be held at St. Agnes Church with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
