It is with great sadness the family of Mr. Philip Michael McGuire, age 76, passed away peacefully in his home January 26, 2023.
Philip was born on May 16, 1946, in Sudbury, moved to Hurkett as a young child, and finally settled in Red Rock where he raised his family. He worked at Norampac Mill (Domtar) in Red Rock for 42 years until his retirement in 2006.
Philip was a man of endless charm with a true love of the great outdoors especially the Superior Northshore region and was excited to share its beauty with others. He enjoyed hosting events knowing it would brighten people’s days. Working endless hours to set up big tents, arranging hay bales, and making bonfires for events such as mud bogs, snowmobile and motocross races, horse-drawn sleigh rides, teen dances, and making sliding hills down the McGuire Mountain to name a few. As an avid gardener he brought more beauty to the area with his McGuire Farm and Greenhouse. Additionally, Philip was a devoted member of the Métis Nation of Ontario and proudly held the position as the Captain of the Hunt.
Philip will be deeply missed by his son, Roger (Monique), daughter Michelle (Clement), grandsons Michael, Robert, and Bradie, granddaughter Alysha, brothers Paddy, Ron, Richard, Walter Taylor, sister-in-law Beverley (Wandell), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by the love of his life and wife Diane (Wandell), parents James and Loretta (Gascon), stepfather Joseph Marshall, brothers Jimmy, Billy and sister Shirley Suddaby.
Thank you to all that new Philip and shared his passion for life. Cremation has taken place as per Philip’s wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined.
In lieu of a donation, Phil would have wanted you to plant a tree, grow a garden, SAVE THE WALLEYE and enjoy the outdoors!
