Prosocimo Bertolo
Following a long struggle with cancer, Prosdocimo (Cimo) Bertolo, age 80, died on Friday, June 25, 2021 at home with his devoted wife by his side.

Born in Bannia, Pordenone, Italy, Cimo immigrated to Canada in 1953 with his parents Guerrino and Elda and sister Eugenia. Cimo, aka “Frank”, was a well-respected carpenter, working mainly for Barnett-McQueen and Concrete Walls, mentoring many employers and co-workers. He took great pride in his work and could recite construction projects to the month and year. After retirement, Cimo perfected the art of intarsia and his intricate pieces are treasured by many. Cimo was an avid fan of vintage movies, history and geography and enjoyed travelling to many parts of the world.

Cimo is survived by his wife of 57 years Giovanna and his children Christina (John Gillespie), Robert (Janet Brunton), Susan (Will Raby) and Raffaele (Carolyn Michaud). He was the proudest Nonno to grandchildren Patrick, Kathleen (Aaron), Kelsey (Stephen), Sophia, Lily, Zachary, Katherine (Matt) and Benjamin (Kiara). Cimo was delighted to become Bisnonno to Taylor in 2020 and Liam on June 15th. Cimo will be dearly missed by sister Genia Beebe and nephews Danny, Clay and Brad and their families. Cimo will also be missed by cousins Ruggero and Mario Morson, Zia Clelia Morson, many first cousins in Thunder Bay, in-laws Angelica (Gino) and Rico (Gale), and many cherished friends.

Visitation for Cimo Bertolo will be held on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. A private service will follow. A video recording of the service will be available on the funeral home website beginning on Thursday.

As directed by the Province of Ontario and the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, attendance at the visitation is restricted to 25% capacity or less and a record of attendance must be maintained. Wearing of masks or face coverings by everyone and maintaining social distancing of 6 feet is mandatory for those attending the services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Area of Highest Need” (Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre), Northern Cancer Fund (payable to TBRHSF) or charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank ParaMed Home Health Care, in particular Steven, Christine, Natalie, Aparna and Drs. Chan, Ramchandar, and Simpson for their support in helping us keep Cimo at home with his family to the end.
