It is with saddened hearts that the family of Mr. Ray Nisula, age 56 years, announce his peaceful passing with his loved ones by his side on Saturday, June 20, 2015 in St. Joseph's Hospice.

Ray worked in construction for 30 years. He challenged himself in his later years and returned and graduated from the Child and Youth Worker Program at Confederation College, a job he loved and excelled at.

Ray was a kind, caring and good man with a large heart who was loved by all who knew and met him. He was always thankful and his beautiful smile was always there even through his illness. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Left to mourn are his loving wife, Deb Bailey; mother Annikki Suokko; brother Roy (Cheryl); sister Violet (Bob) Stockton; daughter Amanda; granddaughter Emily; step-children Shawn (Shannon) Bailey-Emerson, Kristen (Doug) Sweeney, Brook, Greer and Reed; nephews Kris and Nick Nisula and niece Pamela Vepsalainen. Numerous other relatives also survive here and in Finland.

He was predeceased by his father Viljo Nisula and step-father Paavo Suokko.

A Celebration of Ray's Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to Lutheran Community Care Centre - Street Reach Ministries or Shelter House Thunder Bay.

Sit tall in the saddle,
hold your head up high.
Keep your eyes fixed to
where the trail meets the sky.
Live like you ain't afraid to die.
Don't be afraid, enjoy your ride.
