Raymonde Mercier Gagne died at age 76 Monday July 17, 2017 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay Ontario. Born in St Hubert Quebec and daughter of late Leopold and late Therese (Pelletier) Dionne. 
She was also predeceased by her 1st husband Renald Mercier and daughter Christine Mercier. Raymonde was married to Renald for 19 years before his death in 1978. She was a very strong women, having gone through such tragic death of her husband Renald her daughter Christine and her sister Francine all in the same car accident in 1978. This tragic accident made her the women she became, a very strong person and able to cope with whatever was directed her way, good or bad. She battled C. difficile infection and pulled thru.

Raymonde later was happy to announce that she met her new husband, Laurent Gagne. They were a couple for 37 years and married for 16 years. He became a very good stepdad and grandpa to Raymonde's family.

Raymonde leaves behind husband Laurent Gagne, daughter Jocelyne (Mercier) Redgrift her husband Brian, son Jean-Guy Mercier, 4 grandchildren Becky (Redgrift) Greco & husband Tony, James Redgrift & wife Jamie, Cristopher Mercier & wife Michelle, Jonathan Mercier & fiancé Lisa. In addition leaves behind 7 great grandchildren Kylie Redgrift, Madison Redgrift, Ashton Redgrift, Kiersten Greco, Jimmy Greco, Jacob Greco, Vero Mercier. All very much loved.

Raymonde also leaves behind brothers and sisters, coming from a large family of 15 children. Brothers, Paul-Andre with wife Nicole, Gilles, Claude, Danny, Norman, Jacques with wife Guylaine. Sisters, Dolores with Bertrand Berube, Celine with husband Johnny Gadoury, Louise with husband Leonce Gagnon, Carole with husband Michel Boucher. Preceded Francine, Ronald, Walter, Julien. All very much loved.

Raymonde had a very full life outside of being a wife, mother, grandmother (grammi), great grand grammi, sister, aunt, godmother. She had a very early start at working starting with paper route, babysitting, waitressing, bell operator, town councilor. She then decided to go back to school (University) at age of 42. She became a life insurance agent and later teaching a course at the Universities. She later became very active with Thunder Bay francophone. Raymonde worked with L'Accueil francophone as an interpreter translating English to French for her clients until the age of 74 when her health declined. Her love of helping clients showed she was always busy and cared so much that she allowed her clients to still keep in touch after retiring.

A celebration of Raymonde's life and gathering of family and friends will be held at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Avenue, in Thunder Bay Ontario on July 21, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. 

A second celebration will be held in Nakina on July 22, 2017 from 
3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. She will be laid to rest with her late daughter Christine and late husband Renald at the Nakina Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted at Jenkens Funeral Home or donations to C.O.P.D. Lung Association in her memory.

Raymonde's family would like to thank everyone at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre staff at 2C and the registered nurses (Lisa and Rita) that took great care of her and her family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
