It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Reginald Francis Metcalf, at the young age of 71, with family by his side on January 31, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospice, from a lengthy battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Reg was born in Fort Wiiliam, ON to John and Myrtle Metcalf. He married his loving wife of 47 years Ann (nee Boivin) on January 30, 1971. They meet at the Fort William Gardens Rollerskating. Dad attended Selkirk High from grades 9-11, then went on to graduate from grade 12 at Westgate High School in 1966. He went on to attend George Brown College of Applied Arts and Technology in the Sheet Metal Program where he finished his apprenticeship in October, 1972.

Dad was an avid sports enthusiast. Throughout his life dad was a baseball umpire, hockey coach, and volunteer for Churchill High School sports. You could always see him at any LU hockey game or local sporting events. He was also a member and pit boss for the Thunder Bay Auto Sports Club. He was employed at Northland Machinery and Provincial Papers where he retired in 2005. His greatest joy was raising a family and the birth of his only grandson.

Dad will be sadly missed by his wife Ann, son Robert (Darcy) of Saskatchewan, daughter Terri-Ann (Ian) from Saskatchewan and son Bradley (April) of Thunder Bay, grandson Gavin of Saskatchewan, brothers Terry (Maria), Larry (Connie), Kevin (Joy) and sister Tracey (Gerry) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dad was predeceased by his parents John and Myrtle.

We would like to thank the Thunder Bay Cancer Clinic, Dr. Faghih, Dr. Simpson and their team; the nurses in the chemotherapy unit, the palliative team and nursing staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care, compassion and the upmost respect for our father.

Visitation for Reg will take place on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Harbourview Funeral Centre.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Reg’s memory to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, or St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay.
