It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Reginald ‘Reg’ Vaillant on the morning of Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

Reg was born on November 21, 1933, in Port Arthur to Dona and Adele Vaillant. He grew up in Baird Township on the family farm on Townline then Oliver Road.

Reg was committed to hard work from an early age starting with the farm, followed by bush camp at age 15. He attended Ryerson Trade School and completed a plastering apprenticeship with Mayotte. Reg was the dedicated owner of Best-Way Plastering & General Contracting for 40 years.

In his younger years he was an avid baseball player for the Baird Dodgers and he was instrumental in building Jackpine Community Center where he coached youth hockey. In his retirement years his passion shifted to the restoration of antique cars. He and Nan also enjoyed the game of golf and spent many fun-filled winters down south in Sun Valley Village, Texas.

Out of his many accomplishments Reg was most proud of his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Nan (Danis), children, Jim and Josy (Ricci) of Thunder Bay, Susan and Peter Brousseau of Naples, Florida and Dan and Rae-Ann (Cenedese) of Denver, Colorado. His grandchildren Vanessa, Andre, Martina, Kate, Aimee and Isabel were the light in his life.

He leaves behind his siblings and In-Laws, Geraldine Vaillant, Ada Lemay, Helen Hogan, Doris Hill (Richard), Marilyn Vaillant, Agnes Teskey, Lorne Vaillant (Eleanor), Lorraine Sweeney (Sam), Orville Vaillant (Eunice), Patricia Yurick (Roger), Clifford Vaillant (Wendy), Evelyn Glen (Stan) and their families.

Reg was predeceased by his parents Dona and Adele Vaillant, brothers Alex and Leonard and brother-in-laws George Lemay, Tom Hogan and Don Teskey.

Thank you to Dr. Harris and his nurse Curtis and the care provided by the staff at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Care Group.

A celebration of Reg’s life will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, June 6, 2015 in the Murillo Town Hall. Donations in memory of Reg may be made to St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Care Group or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street.
