Richard A. Fayle

It is with saddened hearts that we announce that Dick has lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. He fought hard and gallantly.

Dick was born in Armstrong 77 years ago to Wilfred and Jean Fayle, and spent his younger years fishing and hanging around the air bases at McKenzie Lake where he developed a love of flying.

He worked for Abitibi as a heavy equipment operator for ten years at Auden. Dick and his partner Shirley purchased a remote property and began building and operating Ara Lake Camp, a haven for sport fishermen and hunters. Dick received his pilot licence in 1966 and purchased a Super Cub. He soon realized he needed a larger and faster plane as he was spending too much air time in the Cub! Dick loved the wilderness and everything furry and feathered, and he felt the need to feed.

His family was important to him and he had a special spot in his heart for dogs.

Dick was predeceased by sons Kelly and Vaughn, father Slim, mother Jean, brother Jim and his wife Sheila.

Surviving are his wife Shirley, son Mark, daughters Brandy and Paula, grandson Preston, brother Warren and wife Annette, nieces Maureen, Cheryl, Paula and Donna, nephews Jim and Greg.

Funeral services for the late Mr. Dick Fayle will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Everest Funeral Chapel. Visitation for friends will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM in the Everest Chapel. Interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Should friends so desire, donations to Northern Cancer Research, the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society or Want A Pet, Box 471 Geraldton, Ontario POT 1M0 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
