It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mr. Richard Barry Hardy at the TBRHSC on September 16, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. His family was beside him.

Richard was born September 9, 1957 in Hurkett, Ontario to Bernard Hardy and Madeline Anderson. He was the 7th of 10 children. He was a fisherman along with his father and brothers. He worked at CP Rail and construction. He had to stop working due to his illness and he missed working.

You would see and hear him cheering on his favorite NHL team, the Boston Bruins, every season. He loved to watch his grandsons and son play hockey, baseball and football. He loved to spend time with them when he could. They have many lego crafts that they built together.

He will always be remembered as a kind, loving, thoughtful person, always giving to others. He had a wonderful sense of humour, always in a happy mood. He loved to ride around downtown Thunder Bay with family.

He is survived by his loving companion of 37 years Darlene Jack, who stuck by his side; his son Joshua Sr and fiancée Crissy Lynn Wells; his 3 grandsons who were his pride and joy Delton (aka Noosh, who he nicknamed), Jermaine and Joshua Jr; his brothers Vinnie (Hurkett), Gabriele (Thunder Bay), Wilfred (Thunder Bay), Ralph and Birdie (Halifax), Oliver and Gilvert (both live in BC); his baby sister Jacqueline (Jack) of Thunder Bay; sister-in-law Maybelline; stepsons, who he considered his own, Colin (Stacy and kids), Clarke (Kathleen and kids), Craig (and boys) and Chris (Andria and kids).

He will be missed by his nieces Allison, Cheyanne (Jeremy), Priscilla Hardy and son Jessie; Larissa and son SJ and Marie (Allen and kids); granddaughter Nicole (baby girl) and many family and friends.

Richard was predeceased by his beloved parents; brothers Dennis and Melvin; Fred and Victoria Jack (parents-in-law); Cindy (sister-in-law); Alvin Jack (brother-in-law); nephew Dale Jack (KooKoosh) and by his precious Puddy Tat (Beebeez).

Visitation for Richard will be held at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 S. Syndicate Avenue, Thursday, September 21, 2017 (TODAY) from 1 – 3 p.m. Cremation to follow. Lunch will be served at FW Community Centre (Reserve) following the service. Memorial donations can be made out to the family, Josh Hardy, and forwarded to Jenkens Funeral Home.

Thank you to the Doctors and Nursing staff of TBRHSC (ICU, Rental Clinic, Cancer Clinic and Nurses of 3A), Dr. Habjan for all your years of service to him, Dr. Brown and Dr. Kevin, Home Care Nurses, and Joyce. Thank you to Jenkens staff for all your services.
