Richard Pike
November 24, 1934 - November 10, 2016

Mr. Richard (Dick) Pike, age 81 years, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Hospital-4 North on Thursday, November 10, 2016 with his family at his side.

Dick was a very hard working type and loved equipment. He was by trade a hoisting engineer and over the years worked for V.D. Rigato, Cooper-Rigato, B.U. Duncan Ent. Inc., Western Scrap, Vulcan Machinery and last at the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) as a float truck operator. Dick also loved sports, especially hockey, football and soccer. He attended many Grey Cup games with friends.

It was at one of these games that he sat in the right seat and was the grand prize winner of a car. To many he was known as "Dick Tracy." Dick married the love of his life, Joyce Ila Mae Dean on July 17, 1953 and together they had two children, Patsy and John. Dick loved the outdoors and built the family camp at Sandstone Lake where he and the family could always be found enjoying their weekends fishing, playing and Dick still working.

Dick was predeceased by his wife Joyce of 61 years and their son John.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter Patsy (Lawrence) Duncan and daughter-in-law Donna Pike; grandchildren Christopher Duncan, Karen (CJ) Joseph, Jason (Ashley) Pike, Michelle Pike
and great grandchildren Steven, Emillie, Isabel and Jack as well as numerous other relatives.

A Celebration of Richard's Life will be held at the Airlane Hotel (698 Arthur Street West) on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 11:30am. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held in Mountainview Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Dick to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Arthritis Society or St. Joseph's Care Group would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
