Rita Armstrong
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rita Catherine Armstrong announce the peaceful passing of their beloved mother, sister, and grandmother on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Bethammi at 99 years of age. She was the oldest of eight children born to Pasquale and Rose (Scalzo) DeLuca in Port Arthur, Ontario on March 31, 1922. She married Hans (John) Stock and remarried Vince Armstrong after John Stock passed. Rita was devoted to her family and friends, her faith and her community.

Rita enjoyed her work at Thunder Bay Transit where she worked in the office as a clerk. Many laughs were had with fellow employees. Rita loved her home on Onion Lake Road and enjoyed the country life with John Stock and his son Roy. She enjoyed several camping and fishing trips and one of her favourite places to fish was Whitefish Lake where she could be heard saying; "What a glorious day!". Rita always caught the most fish even though she wasn't trying. She enjoyed spending time with her sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews at Ishkibbible beach where Ky and Ruth Kylander had a lovely summer cottage. After John Stock passed away she relocated to University Drive and several years later married Vince Armstrong. Rita and Vince enjoyed their retirement spending several winters in Pharr, Texas and a memorable bus vacation in Europe.

Rita is survived by her son Roy (Bonnie) Stock, and grandsons Cody (Lindsey Cowie) Stock and Mark Drombolis, brother William DeLuca (Cranbrook B.C.), and sister-in-law Ivy DeLuca of Thunder Bay, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husbands John Stock and Vincent Armstrong, her parents, brothers John, Jim, Buddy and Tom DeLuca, sisters Ruth Kylander, Kathleen Kinahan, brother-in-law Tom Kinahan and sisters-in-law Hazel DeLuca, Marie DeLuca and Wilma DeLuca.

The family extends sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of PR Cook Apartments and Bethammi Long Term Care home whose patience, support, nurturing and love are generously delivered everyday. Thank you for looking after my mom all those years!

A private funeral Mass for Rita with immediate family will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Care Group, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
