Mrs. Rita Anne Kalibatas age 80 years, a resident of Thunder Bay passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the T.B.R.H.S.C. Born in Pointe Anne, Ontario, Rita has resided in Thunder Bay for 58 years. She loved her music and having a good laugh. Rita enjoyed the company of others, talking with family or sharing a glass of wine with friends. She had a young spirit and never lost her zest for life. Rita always carried herself with style and grace and was a "true lady". She found strength in her religion and comfort in prayer. She was a devote member of Corpus Christi R.C. Church for many years. Rita loved her family dearly and was its heart and soul. It was through her that the children shared each others lives. Rita missed her husband Bruno for he was the love of her life and the family take comfort in knowing that they are together once more.
Rita will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Jeanette (Gerhard) Messerschmidt of Alberta and Lisa Winter (Jim Howie) of Thunder Bay, sons: Jeffrey (Maryann) of Ottawa and Steve (Lorna) of Minneapolis, MN, grandchildren: Justin (Cynthia), Michael and Ashlyn Rousseau, Mariah and Mitchell Messerschmidt and John and Calvin Winter, brother Jim (Carol) Gaulin of Belleville, numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was predeceased by her parents Mavis and George Gaulin, husband Bruno (2002), sister Mary (Ed) Stiver, sister Jane (Bob) Moher and infant daughter Sara (1965).
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Corpus Christi R.C. Church, celebrated by Rev. Richard Kowalchuk. Interment will take place in St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street, with Vigil Prayers being offered at 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at
