It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Noni on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the age of 82 at St. Joseph’s Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born in Fort William on  May 28, 1933 to parents Angelo and Gertrude Valeri.  She was the youngest of the three.

Rita touched the lives of everyone she met and left a lifetime of memories to anyone who knew her.  Our mother enjoyed watching the cooking channel and cooking for her family and also watching the Toronto Bluejays.

She was always making sure everyone was well fed and after, when leaving after a visit a care package was sent home with you.  Rita enjoyed playing bingo, cards, dancing in her earlier years as well as travelling to Winnipeg, Toronto, Las Vegas and Grand Portage with her children and granchildren.  Reading and writing poetry was her hobby and she has a book of her poems published.

Rita is survived by her children Valerie (Joe Gardai), Paula, son Teddy, Janet (Darren Tenkula), Jane (Ken Pereczky) and Karen, as well as grandchildren Krista (Bryan), Kayla (Matt), Ryan, great-grandchild Valeri and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her loving husband of 34 years Edward (1990) father (1963) mother (1991) sister Elsie Chochla (2010), sister Mary Duchnicki (2011), great-grandchild Nathaniel Hoel (2011).

Funeral services will be held on Friday May 13, 2016, when family and friends will gather for funeral services, at 11:00 am in the Blake Funeral Chapel with Msgr. P.M. Stilla v.g. officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for friends and family will take place on Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

A special thank you to all the doctor’s and staff who took care of our beloved mother for the past five months.
May you rest in peace Mom, love always your children.

Rita Ruby will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017
