Mr. Robert Constantino DiGiuseppe (Bobby), aged 85, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2016, with family and friends by his side.

Robert was the eldest son of Ferdinando DiGiuseppe and together with his brother Rocco operated The Royal Grocery in Port Arthur. Beyond this family business, he worked in logging and construction, Lakehead Freightways, the insurance industry and finally in security at St. Joseph’s Care Group.

Dad was an avid photographer and could always be seen using the latest camera, movie or slide technology. His second passion was the outdoors, where his love of shooting, hunting and fishing played a central role.

He was a valued member of the Italian community, the Italian Multicultural Society, Port Arthur Gun Club and Auxiliary Police. Dad was also an avid reader and conversationalist, and especially enjoyed debating with anyone on any topic.

He offered unconditional love and complete devotion to his wife, children, family and friends. He shared himself and gave freely.

Robert will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Karin (nee Strauss), children; Adrian (Shelley) nee Feaver,  Barbara Hayton, (nee DiGiuseppe), (Laurie John), brothers; Rocco, Brian (Carol), grandchildren; Brett (Amanda), nee Savela, Grant and great granddaughter Ava DiGiuseppe. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to whom he was very close.

Robert was predeceased by his father Ferdinando DiGiuseppe, mother Mufalda Murphy, Stepmother Adalgisa Marconi, Stepfather Lorne Murphy, granddaughter Gillian DiGiuseppe, sister-in-law Palmina DiGiuseppe, neice Karin Strauss, and nephew Shawn Murphy.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Harbourview Funeral Centre presided by Rev. Luigi Filippini of St. Anthony’s Church. Visitation will take place prior to the service at 10:00 a.m., as well as a luncheon social following the service is available to family and friends. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens to follow.
