Meyer Robert new

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert John Meyer on Friday October 28, 2016, with his family by his side.

Rob was born on May 21, 1961.  He is the son of Berna and the late Arthur Meyer.  After graduating from Confederation College in Electronics Engineering Technology, Rob worked in communications at the MNR for 10 years.  He later joined TBayTel for 25 years until his retirement in May of this year.

Rob’s greatest joy in life were his sons, Jared and Daniel.  He loved to travel with family and visit interesting and exciting places such as Wisconsin Dells, Disney World and New York City. One of his quick getaways was Duluth, MN.  He enjoyed family gatherings at the Dysievick Camp on Lake Superior. Rob was a wonderful person, kind and considerate.

He was always willing to help anyone who asked.  Rob could always be seen with a tool in his hand, fixing something.  He was Mom's handyman. His faith in God was strong.  He accepted everything that was handed him, without complaint.

He is survived by sons Jared and Daniel, his mother Berna, sister Lynda (Walter) and brothers Art (Donna), Paul (Linda) and James (Trisha).  He is also survived by nephews and nieces, Marcie, Mark, David, Michael, Jon, Kaitlin, Matthew, Ben, Nicole and two great nieces Norah and Noelle.  Many cousins, aunts and uncles mourn his passing.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, on Wednesday November 2, 2016, at 11:00 am.Donations, if desired, can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Charity of your choice.

I’m Free
Don’t Grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me,
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Robert Meyer will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
