Robert Leslie Ball passed on Monday, February 29th at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Born in Port Arthur on November 9th, 1953, Robert had many talents and gifts. In his early years, he was selected amongst students across the two cities to attend enriched classes in grades 7 and 8. His academic gifts carried on throughout his life and he particularly enjoyed history. He was also a talented musician enjoying the trumpet for many years in his teens and was a gifted artist.

Despite facing many challenges throughout his life, Robert was able to live independently thanks to the early support of Ms. Mary Ann Unger and most importantly, the tremendous support and friendships he developed with the ACT team (Assertive Community Treatment). They have been God’s helpers and to them, we will always be forever grateful.

Robert was well liked by many and dearly loved by his family. Even though he had so little, he always supported and loved animals in any way that he could. He leaves behind his cat Leah. He enjoyed his many coffees and friendship with his former worker, Barb Lovie, and his many friends at May St. Robin’s.

He was Logan Ball’s dear godfather and was most proud of this role.

He is survived by his mom, Millie and siblings Deborah (Eric) Forneret, Beverly, Bradley (Jennifer), Lesley (Scott) Masters, and Michael (Jennifer), and his dear nieces and nephews, Meghan Gagliardi, Jenna Rogozinski, Alica and Katherine Forneret, Vanessa and Jonathon Masters, Taylor and Parker Ball, and Logan, Tanner, Sam, and Laura Ball. Predeceased by his dad, Robert; brother, David; nephew, Justen Masters; grandparents, June Page, Leslie Adams, and James and Anne Ball and brother in law, Don Auger.

Our sincere thanks to EMS for their fast response and compassionate follow up, to the TBRHSC Emergency and ICU nursing staff and physicians, you not only were caring and compassionate, you are angels and truly provided exceptional care. Thank you to 2C nursing staff, you treated Robert with such dignity.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral services for Robert will be held on Friday, March 4th 2016 at 10:30 a.m. In the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, with Rev. Susan Ivany officiating. Should friends wish to honour Robert’s life and his love for animals, donations to the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society (1535 Rosslyn Road) would be appreciated.

Rob, may you now rest peacefully. We love you always.
