It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Mitchell Parker, at the age of 60, on December 18, 2017, after a long battle of complicated heart disease, no good outcome could be.

Robert was born on June 3, 1957 to Gerald and Marilyn in the old General Hospital in Thunder Bay. He was a lifelong resident of Current River, he attended school on Black Bay Road, Technical High School, and Lakehead University, which at the age of 60, still took instruction for many years in Political Science. He loved what he did in debating life as it was.

Robert worked for 30 plus years for the city at Dawson Court as a Shipper/Receiver in stores. He met the love of his life, Pauline Lyon and they were married for 21 years. Robert had no children, but Pauline had a grandson Anthony who lived with them and he was a great father figure to him. His furry cats he said “were his children”. You could see Robert walking his cats by leash while wearing his straw hat that his father gave him that he could not give up, although it was ripped by the cats.

Robert will be greatly missed by his wife Pauline, grandchildren Anthony, Kelsey and Kane, sister Laura Boucher, nephew Theren, niece Emily (Jason Picard), their 3 children and of course his parents who will miss him terribly, as well as many aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his brother Ron (2011), niece Michelle (2015), grandfather and grandmother Romanuk, and his best friend Paul Magi who he dearly loved and missed when he passed on.

Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Harbourview Funeral Centre, presided by Rev. Gordon Holroyd. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service time. Robert will be laid to rest in the family plot beside his brother Ron in Riverside Cemetery following the reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society.
