It is with deepest regrets that the family of Robert (Bob) Simpson announce his sudden passing on Friday, June 26, 2015, with his family by his side.

Bob will be lovingly missed by his wife Shirley (Kovac), his son Bradley (Debrah), daughters Catherine (Mark) Bolduc and Susan (Stewart) Briscoe, and grandchildren Dane (Hannah), Breanna & Kyle Simpson, Bryson & Bronwyn Bolduc, Christopher & Zackary Allen, as well as his brother Peter (Roberta) Simpson. He is predeceased by his parents Robert Simpson & Lily Corbett as well as his son John.

Bob was born in Fort William, Ontario, on March 18, 1940 to Robert & Lily Simpson.

He graduated from Selkirk High School. On Feb 24, 1962, Bob married Shirley, his high school sweetheart.

Bob spent many years working as a salesman for various businesses in the Thunder Bay area, including McLeod’s department store, CKPR TV, and BFI. Bob loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing with his family on the ShiBob & saw his dream come true when he became the Captain of Miss Piggy Fishing Charters.

Bob was an active member of the Royal Canadian Slovak Legion & the Knights of Columbus. He was the President & Founder of the Thunder Bay Salmon Association & received an Honorary Award from the Government of Ontario for his contribution to the Ontario Fisheries.

After retiring from the charter business, Bob & Shirley enjoyed spending time with their children & grandchildren. They spent much of their time in the outdoors camping, fishing & hunting. They also spent many winters in Weslaco, Texas and much of their time selling crafts at various craft shows.

A funeral mass is scheduled for June 30th at 9:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church on Red River Road, with reception immediately following at the Slovak Legion on Atlantic Avenue in the East End.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation Northern Cancer Fund or the TBRHSC Discovery Fund – Cancer Research.
