Rocco De Santis

Mr. Rocco De Santis, age 76 years, passed away at St. Joseph`s Hospital on Monday, January 1, 2018 with family by his side. Rocco was born on February 10, 1941 in Rovito Cosenza, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 by sea. He was employed by CN Rail shortly after immigrating to Canada, then later worked at St. Joseph`s Hospital as a custodian for 30 years and retired in 1995. Rocco was a proud member of The Italian Cultural Centre for over 50 years. He was a passionate gardener and took pride in growing fresh goods, cooking and sharing with loved ones. In his later years he lived at Sister Leila Greco, where he enjoyed live music, dancing, exercise classes and taking his daily walk to the park to feed the ducks. Rocco was loved by many and will truly be missed. He enjoyed caring for others as it came natural to him. Rocco is survived by his children Joe De Santis, Tina Michon (Scott) and Nancy Kilborn (Warren). His grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Stephen, Taylor, Valerie, Mitchell, Samuel, Joshua, Isaac, Jacob, Philip and Hannah. His siblings Franca Caruso (Piero), Antonietta Deluca (Julio), Raffaele De Santis (Gina), Michele De Santis (Pina), Guiseppe Garro and numerous nieces and nephews. Rocco was predeceased by his parents Luigi and Annina De Santis, brother Pietro (Maria) De Santis, sister Rosina Garro and his daughter AnnaMaria De Santis. With a long fight and so much inner strength our warrior will be missed. 

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 South Syndicate Avenue, Thunder Bay Ontario. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 10:30 am at Jenkens Funeral Home. Should Friends desire donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society of Thunder Bay and St. Joseph’s Foundation of Thunder Bay.
